Final Project Podcast

For my Podcast, I reviewed a reading strategy for taking the TAKS test. This particular strategy is used across my campus to help students remember the steps to take when reading a passage for a test. I would like to give credit to Microsoft Clip Art for some of the photographs as well as TEA for the sample reading passage from a released TAKS test.

I used layers to make most of the photographs in this Podcast. The second image is a collage of photographs using vignettes. The TAKsMAN acronym is an example of text filled with an image. The music was created in Photostory.

For this movie, I would like to give credit to the following students; Jose Gonzalez, Elijah Cofield, Jamal Williams, Evett Cano, Venessa Guzman, Nicolas Ontiveros, Guadalupe Murrieta, and Jonathan Martinez for their poetry. Microsoft Office Clip Art provided photographs used in the making of this video. The music for this video was created using Pinnacle Studio Software.

Podcast Review

The Spanish Phrases Podcast provides an opportunity that is far superior to textbook learning. It will be useful for me in the classroom so that I can communicate with my students and their parents. Teaching vocabulary in context this way would help students to learn English as well. I loved the music and introduction.

The Ballroom Dance Podcast has nice video, but I wish that it had a more thorough introduction. I found CNBC’s Mad Money to be very difficult to listen to. The music was so loud that it was difficult to hear the speaker.

Introduction

As I continue my third year teaching, I can see that there is a great deal for me to learn in order to accomplish the goals I have set for myself in my career. That is why I have decided to pursue a masters in curriculum and instruction. I believe that obtaining greater knowledge as a teacher is the best way I can prepare myself to help young people gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills required to lead fulfilling lives as contributing members of our community.

I have some personal background in multimedia authoring with software such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Photostory, Wordpress, Windows Movie Maker, and Pinnacle Studio. Throughout this course, I look forward to getting more experience with some of these tools and exploring how they can be utilized effectively in my classroom.
